Great Escape 06/07

Well I have been the worship leader for Great Escape for the past 3 years and played electric the year before that. I had been struggling with whether or not I should do GE again this year or not due to the fact that I'm hoping to graduate by next summer. After much thought I finally decided that I would not be able to put the time and energy into GE that it needed to be a successful ministry. Plus I figured it was just time to let someone else take over and see what they could do with it. So now I'm not leading. But now I am still in the band playing electric again. A guy named Blake Russell will be leading in the fall and we've become pretty good friends over the past month. I didn't pick the leader, I made sure of that. I told Bobby that I would let him know who was interested and leave it in his hands. So anyway, Blake ended up asking me if I was interested in playing electric. I said sure, I'd give it a shot. I'm pretty excited about it. I haven't gotten to play electric in a while after playing acoustic every week for so long. It's coming back to me. We've got a great band. I've purchased some new guitar effects and accessories that are fun and will be great tools. Have a pretty nice rig now. I actually just won one more pedal that will go in the empty space on my pedalboard. Got a great deal on it, as in a 1/3 of the normal price. Anyway...

Well on a much lower note, Rocky Johnson, our youth minister has found a new church near Decatur. Rocky was and still is, a great friend and mentor. Made working at the church alot more fun and just enjoyable. He will be missed. But, luckily I know a few people in the Decatur area. He and his family are actually in Decatur and I was able to stop by and see them in their new house this past weekend, so that was really nice. I'll get to see them from time to time which is great. Didn't move to some crazy place like Iowa or something. Anyway, just a man who really made an impact on my life.

Well, I hope to update this more often and have this as something my family can check from time to time to see a few things about what's going on in my life.
